Shaded Object Drawings
"Draw what you see and not what you know." This is a memorable quote from my drawing professors that I now share with my students. Observation skills are an essential building block when learning to draw. This assignment challenged students to select a small reflective object and draw it in an enlarged composition. By carefully building up value in overlapping layers of graphite, students learned the technique of controlling the pressure by using just the tip of their pencil. The result is this stunning collection of beautiful studies.
