Emotion Faces
Art is known for bringing out the best and the worst of human emotion. Artists pull from the depths of their souls and experiences for inspiration. These beautiful faces are the embodiment of human emotion. Students were asked to choose a complex emotion and express it by creating a face. In order to make these sculptures, students needed to learn about proportions of the face and study how the face changes when it expresses that emotion. After firing these pieces, students contoured them with black under-glaze to accentuate the features and then glazed them with a crackle glaze. When they were complete, each student wrote a haiku to accompany their sculptures.
