Andy Warhol
Andy Warhol believed that everyone will experience “15 Minutes of Fame” at least once in their lifetime. He was preoccupied with wanting to be popular and spent his time around famous people. Warhol created a new style of art called
Pop Art, which included subject matter that focused on everyday items that people considered to be popular. He felt that repeating simple images represented the popularity and frequency of use of these items. By adding bright splashes of color, he wanted to give them the attention and notoriety he felt they deserved.
Students had a blast creating repeated images of items that they consider most popular in their daily lives, along with their own "15 Minutes of Fame Self Portraits”. Adding colorful chalk pastels to the images gave them the attention they deserve as well...
